Harper Sublette Perez is a mother, artist, sewist, musician, multi-disciplinary fiber artist, doll-maker, crazy chicken lady, and child-development nerd.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Florida in 2012 with a BA in Psychology -- concentrating in Child Development, Religion, and Fine Art.

Self-taught, save for one much-loved high school sewing class, Harper embraced sewing as a teen, altering her clothing and experimenting with pattern design. She began her teaching journey in 2014 at Island Village Montessori School, where she lead the sewing class for 3rd-5th grades and was steeped in the philosophy of Maria Montessori.

After training in the pedagogy of Montessori, Harper was exposed to the ideas of several of Montessori's contemporaries---namely, Charlotte Mason and Rudolf Steiner. In addition to honing her artistic craft in clothing design and production, dollmaking, natural dyeing, knitting, crochet, quilting, and embroidery, Harper has invested countless hours devouring the work of the aforementioned tremendous minds in child development and education.

Harper's work in sewing and handwork education is heavily influenced by the ideas they all share: honoring the whole child within the rhythms of nature.
